Based on the V12 chassis with added front & rear bumpers, electronic speedo with maximum of 4 cells and fitted with a retro style F2 bodyshell, for more information go to the construction & racing rules page.
Bodyshells
Only approved Historic F2 style retro stock Bodyshells are permitted. Approval of any other bodyshell not listed below can only be used with the approval of Alec Quarman before using. His decision is final! These are the approved shells: Ford Pop, Topalino (All shells must be ABS). No unrealistic wings, aerofoils, spoiler or under body aids unless in the original car design or moulding. All cars to be 1:12th scale and be a reasonable representation of a full size Historic F2 retro stock car, using the bodyshells listed above.
Chassis
F2 chassis must be V12 only and may be countersunked.
Bumpers
External ones must be fitted front and rear using a non-metallic material to look like the “real thing” on the front and rear.
The bumpers may extend 3mm beyond width of the shell but may not extend beyond 178mm in total width. Front and rear bumpers must be fitted to the flat plate chassis and side nerf rails should be fitted.
Over riders may be fitted.
Roof Fins
These must be fitted to the roof of the car and must not have any sharp edges, and must be plastic. They must have the driver’s number clearly visible Driver's name & number must be visible on both sides of the car
Roof Grade
These will be updated every meeting. Please telephone if unsure of your grade. All cars must display correct roof grade, minimum 2" wide stripe. Drivers can use their own club or national roof grade. Anyone displaying incorrect roof grade will start from the back of the grid.
Motors
Motors must be the Mardave G1 & G2, and the Grapner 500 standard, Johnson 540 with plastic endbell,
HPI Saturn 27T, Tamiya Mabuchi 540 Silver Can with black endbell. All motors must be 27 Turns and have all identification labels intact, all tabs must remain untouched. (These Identification stickers do not come off).
Heat sinks can be fitted. Use of motor cleaning fluids & additives allowed. Hunter Systems 27T motor TBC.
Ball Races
These may only be used on the V12 back axle.
Servo Saver
Any type permitted
Pinions & Spur Gears
Any 32dp gears only. Pinions min. 12t, max. 18t. Limited slip devices and differentials are not allowed. Solid rear axles only.
Speed Controller
Any type of speed controller may be used with a maximum price of £60.00. Reverse must be fitted and working at the start of each race.
Tyres
Rear tyres must be the mardave rubber treaded tyres (V3R), also you may use these on the front, or any foam tyre on the front only. Tyre additives are not allowed.
Batteries
Batteries to be sub C sized cells. Only 4 cells to be used, NiCad or Nimh cells only, the battery capacity is up to 4600.
Transponders
Must be chassis mounted only and must be fitted around the centre of the chassis to protect the transponders from any side impacts and must be a non-metallic bracket, no exceptions!
